Tokyo, Japan — JIJ Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yu Yamashiro) today announced a refresh of its brand identity as the company enters a new phase of global expansion. As part of this update, JIJ has established a new mission and vision—"Making Society Computable, Contributing to Human Progress"—and unveiled a new corporate logo.BackgroundData has become a defining asset of modern economies. The competitive edge is no longer data collection, but the ability to convert data into high-quality decisions that drive real-world outcomes. Across critical industries, the complexity of decision-making is now approaching the practical limits of conventional computation. As these limits are reached, computational feasibility itself has become a bottleneck to technological progress and business growth. In response to these constraints, quantum and advanced optimisation are emerging as powerful new approaches to decision-making, enabling users to address complex challenges that have long been considered intractable in practice.JIJ is committed to commercialising these technologies to improve decision-making for society. Through our products and services, we are already accelerating adoption and value creation in Japan. Our diverse team, representing five countries, has developed more than 50 use cases across energy, manufacturing, transportation, and materials development. We have also secured multiple projects primarily in the UK, Europe and Japan. In addition to our UK operations, we will establish our second international office in Germany this spring, with plans to open offices in the United States, Singapore, and the Middle East by 2027.As we expand internationally, JIJ is redefining itself as a truly global company, reaffirming its mission, and renewing its brand identity to reflect shared values and purpose across countries and regions.New Mission and VisionMissionMake Society Computable, Contributing to the Advancement of Humanity“To understand the relationship between the color and temperature of iron.”This pressing question, born in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, led to the discovery of quantum mechanics. Each time technology becomes embedded in society, new challenges emerge—awakening human curiosity and giving rise to the next frontier of science. It is this very cycle that has driven the co-evolution of science and society.By making every challenge in society computable, we aim to move society forward. We believe this will create a new cycle—one in which humanity demands ever-greater computational power, fostering the development of new science and technology.Through efficiency and optimization driven by computation, JIJ will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.VisionTo become an indispensable force that supports decision-making across society, and a company that continually creates innovations that unlock humanity’s potentialWe will establish a decision-support platform, powered by optimization technologies, as essential infrastructure for society.Optimal decision-making for both organizations and individuals. Efficient use of resources and solutions to social challenges.By creating technologies that contribute to humanity, we aim to help shape a sustainable future.About the New Logo DesignOrigin of the NameThe name JIJ is derived from the symbol "Jij", which represents the interaction strength between two elements, "i" and "j", in the Ising model—a mathematical model used in statistical physics. This concept of "interaction" lies at the core of JIJ’s philosophy, reflecting the essential connections between technology and society, data and decision-making, and people with one another.Design ConceptThe new logo was designed by Kei Ikehata, a brand designer with extensive expertise working across a wide range of projects, from established luxury cosmetic brands to cutting-edge startups. The symbol mark, composed of three interconnected circles, represents the interaction of qubits and symbolizes the interconnected relationships among society, technology, and JIJ. In addition, by reinterpreting the "0 and 1" that underpin quantum computing as the "J and I" in the company name, the logo embodies an identity unique to JIJ as a company engaged in the quantum industry. The logotype features original characters designed with the golden ratio, balancing strong visual clarity with mathematical elegance. Additionally, the logo uses the timeless colors of black and white.By uniting mission and design, the logo visually expresses both JIJ’s commitment to quantum technology and its mission of "Making Society Computable, Contributing to Human Progress."Executive CommentYu Yamashiro, Founder and CEOMy motivation for founding this company stems from a simple desire: to see the future. Our raison d'être is to predict the future through computation and contribute to building a better society. History shows that technology and society have always evolved through mutual influence. Demands from industry drive scientific progress, and the resulting innovations, in turn, support human advancement.Today, following the accumulation of vast amounts of data through digital transformation, society is entering the next stage—optimization—the capability to derive the best possible decisions. This marks a decisive turning point that is accelerating the development of quantum and optimization technologies. We feel privileged to be witnessing this pivotal moment in history. Guided by the principles embodied in our name, JIJ has refreshed its brand identity and is committed to driving this cycle of mutual development, fulfilling our mission to make society computable and contribute to human progress on a global scale.Designer CommentKei Ikehata, Brand DesignerJIJ is strengthening its global presence in the field of optimization technologies. When designing the new logo, my primary focus was to create a confident, authoritative presence befitting a global company, together with a sense of universality—one that could ultimately become part of society’s infrastructure. Alongside pursuing high durability and clear legibility through a refined form, I also embedded meaning in the mark derived from quantum principles unique to JIJ. I emphasized the three-letter name to enhance immediate recognition and memorability. In addition, I intentionally reduced the degree of optical adjustments typically applied in type design, introducing a sense of mathematical beauty across the entire logo. The decision to adopt the all-caps name “JIJ” likewise reinforces these aspects of the brand identity. Together with the renewed Mission and Vision—which I also had the privilege of helping to refine—I look forward to JIJ’s continued growth and its next major leap forward.<Profile>After serving as Chief Designer at POLA Inc., and as a founding Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of the food brand DADACA, Ikehata established an independent practice in 2025. His work spans package design, product design, and graphic design, with a focus on integrated brand development. Selected projects include package design for POLA’s flagship lines POLA B.A and White Shot, visual identity development for the chocolate brand CACAOCAT, and product design for the SAVAS Protein Shaker. His work has been recognized by major international design awards, including the Red Dot Design Award “Best of the Best” (Germany), the iF Design Award (Germany), and PENTAWARDS Gold (United Kingdom), as well as the Japan Package Design Award (Gold Prize) and the Good Design Award.
